The Realm Between

There is currently an attack on “third places” and a resorting to polarization and fragmentation in a variety of domains of society. Be it the ineffable dimension between client and therapist that does not lend itself so easily to empirical frameworks, be it third variants of sexuality and identity, or the negligence of nature as a mysterious third place; a wholeness that sustains our existence and contains our nonbeing. Drawing on her extensive research, Sara Ekenstierna derives the power of creative from various “third places”, rather than from either-or positions. Join her on a journey of exploration which spans interpretations of thirdness in Early Greek philosophy, the glimmerings of betweenness in the works of psychoanalytic pioneers, to current conceptions. The presenter invites audience members to offer their current associations, ideas, and insights.

Sara Ekenstierna, PhD, LPsy, integrates science, psychoanalysis and creativity, forging cutting-edge approaches to public health. She inspires meaningful transformation and creates impactful change in individuals and organizations through research, consultation, tailored workshops and dialogue groups. Sara is a frequent speaker at conferences globally and she has written articles for Journal of Theoretical and Philosophical Psychology, Journal of Humanistic Psychology, International Psychoanalytic Association, and American Philosophical Association. She is the creator and host of the new podcast Bohmian Dialogues, which explores creative forms of being and how to manifest new shared realities for wider humanity.
