I will present several dreams taken from different stages in six years of therapy with an Israeli man who experienced horrific trauma during his army service. While fighting in an active war zone, he was seriously wounded by friendly fire. The dream work promoted a transformation of his fragmented self into a cohesive self, awareness of his destiny and its relation to the environment. The traumatic state of mind evolved into an area of faith and a broad perspective on his life. This change is apparent in the transference relationship that can be identified in each dream. We will follow the evolution of the transference as the treatment proceeds. I will also discuss a possible link between dreaming and meditation, as well as dreaming as a means to acquire faith and hope. Faith and hope expand the traumatized mind and make it possible to envision the future.
