Decentralized Learning Experience Groups
Adam Phillips Book Group (on Zoom)
Description: This group explores the forces that drive us, examining how internal and external influences shape both our worlds and those of our patients, sometimes constructively, sometimes destructively. Through the lens of Adam Phillips, widely regarded as Britain’s leading psychoanalytic writer and one of our most original contemporary thinkers, we’ll consider how he illuminates our deepest instincts and impulses.
Structure: We will read and discuss one short chapter per month.
Schedule: We will meet November 2025 through May 2026 on the second Friday of each month, from 5:00 to 6:15 p.m. (PT) via Zoom.
Convener: Stacy Berlin, Psy.D., Psy.D. is a psychologist and a training and supervising analyst on the faculty of the Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis in Los Angeles. She is a guest editor for Psychoanalytic Inquiry, and an associate editor for Psychoanalysis, Self and Context, and serves on the Board of Directors of the International Forum for Psychoanalytic Education. Dr. Berlin is an integrativist who works from an egalitarian and contextualist perspective within a safe enough relational framework, integrating creativity, play, and humor to support meaningful exploration and transformation. She practices in Studio City, Los Angeles, California.
